INTRODUCTION
With legendary runs, sumptuous Verbier chalets and celebrated après ski, it’s no wonder that ever since the ski boom of the 1960s Verbier has established itself as the winter Mecca of the rich and famous. In the shadow of Mont Blanc and the Grand Combin, Les 4 Vallees is one of the largest, most diverse ski areas of the Alps. With a single lift pass offering access to over 410 km of pisted runs and over 90 lifts and trains, Verbier’s seemingly infinite ski area provides some of the most challenging skiing in Europe. The area around Mont Gele is a favourite amongst beginners and offers gentle gradients and wide, sweeping groomed pistes. If you’re after something a little steeper then take the cable car down to Tortin where there are an abundance of red runs waiting to be tackled. For the expert or advanced skier the areas of Mont Fort and Combatzeline with their classic black runs are a must do. Alternatively some people may prefer to just spend time relaxing at their own private chalet in Verbier. A further addition to Verbier’s already extensive list of accolades is its expansive off piste opportunities boasting premiere powder and tantalising trails, guaranteed to satisfy even the most extreme of adrenaline junkies! After a long days skiing, Verbier’s attractions do not stop here. Ski chalets in Verbier are an ideal way to wind down for the evening or if you’re not feeling ready for bed then arguably its greatest draws are the evening escapades and late night revelry. With a vibrant atmosphere and a heavenly host of bars and restaurants, après ski is more an institution than an expectation in Verbier. Widely considered as the hot spot for the distinguished and the defined and entertaining the likes of Coco Lounge and The Farm Club, making sure you get hold of a chalet in Verbier is most definitely a priority during the winter months.

In restaurants a service charge is built into menu prices. However, it's customary to round up amounts when paying the waiter or waitress if you're happy with the service. This means that you might hand the server CHF 50 for a CHF 47 meal. If you're paying by credit card, hand the server a cash tip of up to 5%. For Taxis as in restaurants, round up or add 5% when you're happy with the service. Tips to your chalet staff are entirely at your discretion.
